About the Leckford Professor Trout Fly
The Leckford Professor was created by Ernest Mott, river keeper on the River Test. It was originally devised for wary trout on the south of England chalk streams.
It has proved to be an excellent fly throughout the UK and the United States, especially for wild trout.
Try it on your local waters and be be pleasantly surprised with the results.
Expert Tip:
The great shyness of the trout renders it extremely difficult to obtain any accurate knowledge of his habits, by ocular demonstration. Even a thick bush will seldom be found sufficiently opaque to conceal the observer.

Comments from other fly fishermen
I see this is as trade only - I have been searching for this pattern as I fished it many years ago in Mid Wales for Grayling. It was a true killer then and I have tried to tie it since but have never really got it right.
What are the chances that I could purchase some and if yes at what cost ?
I also remember another version with a more yellow body - darkish yellow in fact a greenish yellow ( a bit like dung !! ) - Posted by Paul Davies on 13/04/2008
