About the Mrs Simpson Trout Fly
The Mrs Simpson is arguably the most popular of the Killer patterns, and is in the same class as the popular Walker's Killer and Hamill's Killer. It is regarded as a "must have" for fishing the lakes, streams and rivers of New Zealand and South Africa.
The name is said to originate in the era of King Edward VIII, who chose to step down from the throne in order to marry Mrs Simpson; implying that if Mrs Simpson could lure a king away from his throne than a trout would be an easy feat!
