About the Garry Dog BMD Salmon Atlantic Fly
The Garry Dog BMD is a variant of the successful Garry Dog pattern that is very useful in coloured water.
It is reputed to have been born in a tackle shop where a visiting minister was asked for some hair from his accompanying Golden Retriever’s tail which was then used to form part of the wing of a fly being tied on the premises. The fly was named after the dog who was called Garry.

- Hook : BMD 14.
- Tag : Fine oval silver tinsel and fluorescent yellow. No.10 Glo Brite floss.
- Tail : Golden pheasant topping.
- Body : Black floss silk.
- Rib : Oval silver tinsel.
- Wing : Few fibres of bright red calf tail overlaid with bright yellow calf tail.
- Throat : Dyed blue guinea fowl.
- Head : Black.
