About the Greenwell Spider Trout Fly
The Greenwell Spider is ideal for when the olives or iron blue are hatching. Olives hatch right through the season and are a regular source of food.
A simple and uncomplicated wet fly which is used to fish the upper inches of the water.

Pattern Dressings
- Hook : 14.
- Thread : Yellow.
- Body : Waxed yellow tying thread.
- Rib : Gold wire.
- Hackle : Coch-y-bondhu or furnace hen hackle.
The cock-y-bondhu hackle used is longer than that used on a Greenwell's Glory.
