About the Dunkeld Trout Fly
The Dunkeld was first recorded in 'A Book on Angling' by Francis Francis 1867.
It was created as a salmon fly but soon proved its worth as an attractor pattern for trout on both rivers and stillwaters.

Pattern Dressings
- Hook : 12-14.
- Thread : Black.
- Tail : Golden pheasant crest.
- Body : Flat gold tinsel.
- Rib : Oval gold tinsel.
- Bearded Hackle : Orange cock.
- Wing : Brown mallard.
- Cheeks : Jungle cock.

I haven't used this pattern for many years. The last time I did was in the early 1980's on the Bristol lakes, which proved very successful for me.
