About the Kite's Imperial Trout Fly
Oliver Kite created this pattern with the enlarged thorax creating a 'silhouette trigger' and it quickly became a 'standard' dry river fly.
It has been deceiving trout ever since, seeming to resemble many different specie of duns.

Pattern Dressings
- Hook : 12-20.
- Thread : Purple.
- Tail : Grey, brown or ginger at the beginning of the season and gradually lightning to honey dun hackle fibres towards the later end of the season.
- Body : Heron herl.
- Rib : Fine gold wire.
- Thorax : Heron herl.
- Hackle : Honey dun. ginger or sandy dun can also be used as an option.
Heron herl on the thorax must be doubled and redoubled to create a 'silhouette trigger'.
