About the Brown Long Legged Gnat Trout Fly
The Brown Long Legged Gnat is particularly successful on still or sluggish water. Gnats thrive in that environment and although they may seem like a plague when they emerge, often in large hatches, on warm summer evenings they are a staple food for trout.

- Hook : 14-18.
- Thread : Brown tying silk.
- Body : Brown tying silk.
- Thorax : Knob of brown wool or fur.
- Wing : Grizzle hackle points, stiff.
- Hackle : Red grizzle cock hackle.
The hackle must be long and wound sparingly, two or three turns.
