About the Orange Quill Trout Fly

When days are warm and mild with little or no wind the dun will escape the shoreline vegetation and hatch yet again into the orange spinner where dry flies like the Orange quill will imitate them well.

Expert Tip:

The Orange Quill represents the sherry spinner. In my experience trout take it better than Halford's spinner, but it may be that it also represents one of the smaller sedges in their eyes, and so serves a double purpose.
Alfred Roland, 1836.
